How we work together
Learn about my custom website design process.
I’ll ask you questions, lots of questions, about what you do and who you do it for. Together we’ll work out what tools and functionality you need from your website. And we’ll set goals for the project.
Next I will organise how all of the content of you website will work and flow together, and plan out the sitemap of pages. These pages will be structured in a meaningful and useful way to make it easy for your visitors to find what they need.
The prototype is your website built in the browser to show functionality, form and flow. This stage does not include any design, so it’s not pretty. It shows how everything will work and how your visitors will experience the website.
Design + Code
Once the prototype has been approved we start the fun part, making it look gorgeous. At this stage I will integrate all of your branding, photos and imagery. I will also make the functionality and tools work.
Testing + Launch
I will run your website through it’s paces: test on different browsers, screen sizes, squash any bugs and ensure everything is running smoothly. Then it’s time to launch your gorgeous new website into the world.
If you’ve signed up for my Website Care program I will continue to support you and your website. I’ll take care of all of the behind the scenes tech to make sure your website continues to perform perfectly.
I work on a "content first" approach.
Put simply, you need the content before you can design it. And because a website is an interactive experience, we also need to know how it will work and flow.
Think of your website like you are building a house. You plan and construct the foundations and the structure before you do the paint, the carpets, the curtains.
The design comes later because once we have all the functionality working, and have mapped out how your visitors will use the website, I can add design based on the needs of your visitors and your business.
